Action messages (pop-ups)
What it is
Section titled “What it is”The result of actions with a spreadsheet in lists (Copy link, Rename, Delete spreadsheet) appears in a pop-up message at the bottom right. The message does not take up a row in the side or general list and does not shift spreadsheets. The message Read only · Changes are unavailable right now also appears there when the service is temporarily closed for changes.
How to use it
Section titled “How to use it”- Choose an action in the spreadsheet menu. The result appears at the bottom right, for example Link to “Plan” copied or Spreadsheet “Plan” deleted.
- A success message closes itself after five seconds. The × button closes it at once.
- While the mouse cursor or keyboard focus is on a message, the timer stops.
- F6 moves focus to the messages; Tab and Shift+Tab move between them. After a message is closed from the keyboard, focus returns to where it was.
- An error message stays until you close it. Repeat the action from the same menu: the new result replaces the previous one, including an outdated error.
Limits
Section titled “Limits”- No more than three messages are shown on the screen at once; identical messages are not repeated.
- A message does not take focus, and a screen reader reads it aloud.
- On a phone, the messages stand above the bottom navigation, and long text wraps.
- Deleting a spreadsheet still requires confirmation, as before.
- The notifications bell and messages with an undo for archiving work in their own way; these messages do not replace them.
- Messages disappear when you switch user or space, and on sign-out. They are not kept on the device and are not sent anywhere.
