File storage on the Files page

At the top of the Files page you see how much file storage is already used and how much is still free. Files attached to chats and pictures in spreadsheets use this space.

  1. Open Files. At the top is the File storage card: it shows “1.2 GB of 5 GB” and, on the right, Free 3.8 GB. Below them is a bar showing the share in use.
  2. When almost all of the available part is used (from the plan’s warning threshold, currently 85%), the bar and Free … are highlighted in the warning colour.
  3. If the storage has no limit, only the amount used is shown: “2 GB · no limit”, without a bar.
  4. The card is visible even when there are no files yet: it is above What should I review?.
  • The tightest limit is shown: the total storage of the space, or your personal ceiling if it is set and less is left under it. Currently plans set storage only for the whole space: in an organization it is shared by all members.
  • The figures are as of the moment the page was opened. New files are counted when you open Files again.
  • Sizes are counted in 1024s: GB with one decimal place, MB and KB as whole numbers. Below one megabyte the size is shown in KB, but never less than “1 KB”. Zero is shown as “0 MB”.
  • How much storage a plan gives, and when the usage is checked against the actual figures, is described in Plans and limits.
  • After a plan is lowered, the usage may be more than the available storage: the bar is full, and it shows Free 0 MB.
