Chats and spreadsheets in browser tabs

What it is

Each chat and each spreadsheet has its own address, so it can be opened in a separate browser tab. The tab title is “Chat or spreadsheet name — DUOSHAO”. After a rename it updates by itself.

How to use it

1. A normal click or Enter opens the chat or spreadsheet in the current tab.
2. Ctrl-click on Windows and Linux, ⌘-click on Mac, or a click with the middle mouse button opens a new tab.
3. A right-click on the name opens the browser’s usual link menu.
4. Spreadsheets open this way from the side list, the general list, the tiles and the chat’s materials. Chats open from the side list, the general list, projects and source files.
5. Actions on a chat stay in the ⋯ button. The same menu opens when you click on free space in the row.

Limits

• Whether the tab opens in the background or at once, and what clicks with Shift and Alt do, is decided by the browser. Shortcuts and menus can differ between browsers and devices.
• A normal click on a spreadsheet in the chat’s materials shows a preview. A new tab opens the full spreadsheet editor.
• While a document is loading, or after access is refused or after you sign out, the tab keeps the previous app title.
• Each tab has its own selection, scroll position, draft and undo history. Saved spreadsheet edits reach the other tab by themselves.
• The draft and the undo history are not kept after the page is reloaded.
• A chat from the trash cannot be opened by a link. Restore it first.
• A new tab does not give new rights: access is checked each time a tab is opened.
• Sheet tabs inside a spreadsheet work as before; there is no separate row of app tabs.
