Profile photo

What it is

A round photo instead of initials. People set it themselves in Settings → Profile. A platform administrator can set or remove a person’s photo in the Administration. The photo is shown in the profile and on the account menu button.

How to use it

1. Open the profile menu (your name or initials in the corner) → Profile. At the top of the section is the Photo block: a circle with your photo or initials and the Upload photo button.
2. Click Upload photo and choose a PNG, JPEG or WebP image.
3. The Profile photo window opens. On the left is the image under a round mask; on the right, a small circle shows how the photo will look. Drag the image with the mouse or your finger. The Zoom slider enlarges it up to 4 times.
4. Click Save photo. While the photo is saving, the button shows Saving…. Then the window closes and the new photo appears at once in the profile and on the account menu. Cancel closes the window without changing anything.
5. If a photo is already set, Remove photo is next to it. After you remove it, initials are shown again.

In the Administration (platform administrators only):

1. People → the person’s row or their page → the Actions menu → Upload photo.
2. In the Profile photo window with the person’s name, click Upload photo and choose a file. From there it is the same window as in the profile, with the mask, Zoom and Save photo.
3. To remove a photo: Actions → Remove photo → Confirm.
4. The photo is shown in the People list and at the top of the person’s page. Every change is written to the Administration log: Photo changed: Name or Photo removed: Name.

Limits

• The file must be a PNG, JPEG or WebP, no larger than 10 MB. Animated images are not accepted.
• The image must be no more than 40 megapixels, and no side may be longer than 12 000 pixels.
• The selected square must be at least 64 pixels of the original image. Do not enlarge a small image (shorter than 256 pixels) all the way: saving will fail with an error.
• The photo is always saved as a 512×512 square and displayed as a circle.
• No more than 30 photo uploads per hour. This count is shared with name edits in Profile.
• Only people who are signed in to the product can see photos. A direct link does not open a photo without signing in.
• In the Administration, you cannot set a new photo for a deleted person; you can remove the old one.
